Released: February 2010

If Books Could Kill is the 2nd novel in the Bibliophile Mystery series by Kate Carlisle. I'm completely obsessed with this cozy mystery series and am presently making my way through every one of these books! It's been a long time since I found myself enjoying a new cozy mystery. If Books Could Kill picks up just weeks after the ending of the 1st novel, Homicide in Hardcover.

The setting of If Books Could Kill is in Edinburgh, Scotland, where book restoration expert Brooklyn Wainwright is attending the Edinburgh Book Fair. While there, Brooklyn runs into an ex-boyfriend, who confides that he is in possession of a rare book that reveals secrets that could potentially change history surrounding the British monarchy. Moments later, the ex-boyfriend is found murdered and Brooklyn is tasked with identifying his killer to avoid being accused of homicide—yet again.

Homicide in Hardcover is the first novel in the "Bibliophile" cozy mystery series by Kate Carlisle. At the time of this writing, there are 14 books in the series (15 if you count the novella released between books #4 and #5), which is exciting news for people like me who are just now discovering this series! I've had Homicide in Hardcover sitting on my bookshelf since its release and now I'm kicking myself for not having started it sooner because I loved it! On the plus side, now I can binge-read the entire series.

Released: April 2015

Demise in Denim is the fifth book in the "Consignment Shop" mystery series by Duffy Brown. This southern cozy mystery series takes place in Savannah, Georgia and features the amateur sleuthing adventures of Reagan Summerside, consignment shop owner.

Duffy Brown and her publishers are always generous enough to send me copies of the Consignment Shop novels prior to their release dates. Receiving her surprise packages in the mail are always a real treat! I pushed all other reading to the wayside this weekend just so I could tear into this latest, especially since Brown's novels continue to get better and funnier with each new release.

Maisie Dobbs by Jacqueline Winspear

jacquelinewinspear.com
Released: July 2003

Maisie Dobbs is the first novel in the cozy mystery series of the same name by Jacqueline Winspear. I can't recall exactly how Maisie Dobbs came to be on my wish list, but I suspect it may have been on behalf of a recommendation provided by Nancy Pearl—the author of Book Lust. Winspear's writing style and prose reminds me very much of that by Alexander McCall Smith and Nancy Atherton. This book is amazing, and I'm excited to talk about it!

Death by Darjeeling by Laura Childs

www.laurachilds.com
Released: May 2001

Death by Darjeeling is the first novel in the "Tea Shop Mysteries" series by Laura Childs. I first attempted this series years ago shortly after its release, but ditched it in favor of Cleo Coyle's "Coffeehouse" mystery series. I guess since I was a huge coffee-drinker back then, it made more sense to put off Childs' series, but now that I no longer drink coffee, I thought I'd go back to giving the "Tea Shop" series a try.

I chose to read Death by Darjeeling this month because it qualifies for the Monthly Keyword Reading Challenge over at Bookmark To Blog. "Death" is one of May's keywords.
